Job summary

The John Howard Society of Okanagan & Kootenay is seeking a Custodial Worker to maintain cleanliness and safety across program buildings, grounds, and property. The role involves planning, coordinating, and performing custodial tasks, with a focus on high standards and reliability.

You will partner with the Building Operations team to manage inspections, minor repairs, inventory, and supply orders while upholding a respectful, confidential work environment. Regular hours are Mon-Fri, 8am-4pm.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of computers including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Knowledge of safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness, appeal, and working order of the main grounds and buildings, including offices, common areas and restrooms.
• Perform minor fixes including replacing light bulbs, painting or repairing broken locks.
• Complete garden and yard upkeep.
• Report major repairs, property damage or vandalism to the Manager.
• Perform cleaning duties in accordance with operating procedures, health and safety standards, cleaning schedule, and as directed by the Manager.
• Assist with special projects as needed.
• Establish and maintains collaborative relationships with clients served, team members and management, the public, contractors and partners.
