Our department manages and develops databases and processes data across all divisions (ISG and MSWM) and business lines (FID, IED), including front office reference, finance, and risk data. The databases run on Sybase, DB2, KDb, Greenplum, Hadoop, and MongoDB technologies. ITARA owns several datamarts and business intelligence platforms (Business Objects, Qlikview, and Tableau) to enable end-user data analysis. Responsibilities include database modeling, physical database design, SQL development, capacity planning, performance tuning, database maintenance, and ETL pipelines.

The Datamarts Analytics team seeks talented data engineers to join our global team managing databases with Big Data volumes. We deliver multiple projects across various business areas simultaneously. Since business owners and subject matter experts are globally distributed, strong communication skills are essential. The candidate will work closely with IT partners to analyze and fulfill business requirements, utilizing agile methodologies such as Scrum and XP best practices. The role involves designing, enhancing, and developing applications across different database environments.

The job encompasses all project lifecycle aspects, including proof-of-concept evaluations, coding, design, testing, implementation, deployment, ongoing support, and Level 3 on-call support. Collaboration with engineering teams is expected.

Major Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Database Infrastructure Engineering for stability, scalability, and capacity planning.
2. Application DBA functions: planning and executing schema changes, bottleneck analysis, outage prevention/resolution, performance improvements, maintenance, and recovery.
3. Database development (stored procedures, ETL, tools), query/stored procedure review, and optimization.
4. Enforcing database security, standards, and guidelines.

Technical Skills Requirements:

• 3-5 years of experience with relational databases, especially DB2 Linux or Sybase.
• Scripting on Linux platforms using Perl/Python and Unix/K-Shell.
• Strong knowledge of database performance tuning, including indices, statistics, reorganization, de-normalization, memory management, and configurations.
• Ability to create high-quality, optimized stored procedures and queries.

Desired Skills:

• Knowledge of other databases like Greenplum.
• Familiarity with Datalakes.
• Finance domain background.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools.
• Graduate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
