We are looking for a Database Administrator (DBA) to maintain and administer our company’s evolving database landscape.
DBA’s responsibilities include:
- Administer, monitor, and maintain all Healthy Planet Database systems (primarily Microsoft SQL Server databases).
- Ensure database availability, integrity, and performance in production, development, and test environments.
- Perform regular database maintenance tasks including backups, index management, and statistics updates.
- Plan and execute upgrades, patches, and migrations with minimal downtime.
- Implement and manage high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) strategies.
- Monitor system performance, analyze trends, and proactively resolve bottlenecks or issues.
- Manage database security including user roles, permissions, and encryption.
- Develop and maintain documentation related to database configuration, processes, and procedures.
- Collaborate with developers and other IT teams to optimize queries, troubleshoot application issues, and improve database design.
- Conduct regular audits and ensure compliance with data governance policies and best practices.
Skills & Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA, including hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2017.
- Proven experience in installation, configuration, and upgrading of SQL Server environments.
- Strong skills in T-SQL, scripting, and automation.
- Proficient in backup/restore strategies, Always On Availability Groups, replication, and log shipping.
- Experience with performance tuning and optimization (PTO) using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Solid understanding of database security concepts and best practices.
- Experience working in environments with change control and versioning.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues under pressure.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills
Qualifications
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or similar SQL Server certifications.
- Familiarity with cloud-based solutions and migrations (e.g., Azure SQL, AWS RDS).
- Knowledge of PowerShell and automation frameworks.
- Experience with SSIS, SSRS, or SSAS is a plus.
- Ability to provide support via chat, email, and phone when needed.
- Ability to prioritize a wide range of workloads with critical deadlines.
- Strong planning, time-management, and organizational skills
- Willingness to learn, teach, and develop the department.
- Ability to think critically and analytically in a faced past environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills. Creativity and the ability to think outside of the box
- Ability to coach individuals.
