Job Description

We are looking for a Database Administrator to join our growing global team at Sectigo.

The Database Administrator provides technical and integration leadership for Sectigo’s data platforms. This individual improves the processes related to the enforcement of DBA standards, policies, procedures and guidelines, 24/7 DBA operations, production support, code promotions and upkeep of an always on database infrastructure. This individual also ensures Sectigo can rely on resilient, scalable and performant database platforms while developing innovative and strategic data management solutions.

This is a full-time and individual contributor role working in the hybrid model and at least 3 days a week from our Ottawa office, reporting to our Cloud Operations team.

The compensation range for this position is between CAN 100,000 and CAN 115,000, based on years of experience and internal equity.

Here are the core functions, responsibilities, and expectations for this role:

  • Support business-critical database administration across the organization including Oracle and working towards incorporating PostgreSQL, and other enterprise-level DBOSs in use at Sectigo.
  • Provide technical leadership, managing resource assignment and project prioritization for the maintenance and performance improvement of all database activities.
  • Determine relevant KPIs to measure team’s ability to complete work assignments and projects.
  • Support the nLightn-IT relationship.
  • Constantly plan the improvement of SASP and other enterprise databases with respect to data protection, disaster recovery and high availability.
  • Develop and manage operations standards, documentation, governance, procedures, and best practices.
  • Partner with all teams to provide the best technology recommendations for business requirements and ensure solutions align to strategic direction.
  • Guide cost-benefit analyses, as well as support a detailed definition of database resource requirements; Optimize and consolidate database deployments where possible to manage licensing costs.
  • Ensure all database platforms are adhering to policies defined by the security organization.
  • Monitor changes in the industry that affect database platforms to provide continuous improvement in processes, procedures, tools, technologies, and capabilities.
  • Measure, analyze, track and report business, process, and quality metrics to achieve targets while examining trends and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Review and analyze existing implementations, configurations, and optimizations to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of databases.
  • Review requests for database implementation changes required to meet needs of the stakeholders and/or required by the addition of capabilities.
  • Determine data storage, archival, retention, backup, restore and optimization requirements based on new priorities, changes in application functionality and system needs.
  • Prepare regular reports showing DB metrics, trends, and performance.
  • Provide technical leadership and information required in the preparation of annual budget, including needs for upgrading hardware and software, system and resources needed for all system needs.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of data consistent to accepted policies, practices, guidelines and laws.
  • Advocate for the proper use of the organizations data assets.
  • Provide project management and leadership to staff and external resources in support of established goals and objectives, improved efficiencies, and problem resolution.
  • Ensure accomplishment of all objectives in accordance with company policies, procedures, and strategic direction, as well as regulatory standards.
  • Other duties as assigned and related to the nature of this role and company initiatives.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is strongly preferred.

Experience:

  • 3+ years of Database Development and Administration experience is required.
