Job Description
We are looking for a Database Administrator to join our growing global team at Sectigo.
The Database Administrator provides technical and integration leadership for Sectigo’s data platforms. This individual improves the processes related to the enforcement of DBA standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines, manages 24/7 DBA operations, provides production support, oversees code promotions, and maintains an always-on database infrastructure. They ensure Sectigo can rely on resilient, scalable, and high-performance database platforms while developing innovative and strategic data management solutions.
This is a full-time, individual contributor role working in a hybrid model, requiring at least 3 days a week in our Ottawa office, reporting to the Cloud Operations team.
The compensation range for this position is between CAN 100,000 and CAN 115,000, based on experience and internal equity.
Core Functions, Responsibilities, and Expectations
- Support business-critical database administration across the organization, including Oracle, PostgreSQL, and other enterprise-level DBMSs used at Sectigo.
- Provide technical leadership, managing resource assignment and project prioritization for database maintenance and performance improvements.
- Determine relevant KPIs to measure the team’s ability to complete work and projects.
- Support the nLightn-IT relationship.
- Plan improvements for SASP and other enterprise databases concerning data protection, disaster recovery, and high availability.
- Develop and manage operational standards, documentation, governance, procedures, and best practices.
- Partner with teams to recommend technology solutions aligned with business requirements and strategic goals.
- Conduct cost-benefit analyses and support defining database resource needs; optimize and consolidate deployments to manage licensing costs.
- Ensure all database platforms comply with security policies.
- Monitor industry trends affecting database platforms to foster continuous process, tool, and technology improvements.
- Track, analyze, and report on business, process, and quality metrics to identify areas for improvement.
- Review existing implementations and configurations for efficiency and effectiveness.
- Assess requests for database changes to meet stakeholder needs and system capabilities.
- Determine data storage, archival, retention, backup, restore, and optimization requirements based on evolving priorities.
- Prepare regular reports on database metrics, trends, and performance.
- Provide technical leadership for annual budgeting, including hardware/software upgrades and resource planning.
- Maintain data confidentiality according to policies, practices, and laws.
- Advocate for proper use of data assets.
- Lead projects and support staff and external resources to meet goals and resolve issues.
- Ensure objectives are achieved in accordance with policies, procedures, strategic direction, and regulatory standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned related to this role and company initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience (preferred).
