Job Opportunity: Data Scientist (Contract)

Are you a Data Scientist seeking a new contract opportunity? We are pleased to present a contract role for a Data Scientist based in Mississauga.

Details

• Start: ASAP
• Duration: 3 months
• Location: Mississauga
• Work Arrangement: Hybrid role (2-3 days in-office or more per project need, Tuesdays and Thursdays required)

Responsibilities

• Collect, clean, and transform data from diverse sources for training and evaluation datasets.
• Develop, validate, and implement predictive models and machine learning algorithms.
• Utilize end-to-end ML products to develop data science models.
• Perform exploratory data analysis to understand data and develop hypotheses.
• Triage and diagnose poorly performing models.
• Propose and implement solutions to meet model performance metrics.
• Present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field.
• 4-6 years of data science experience, including at least 3 years in GenAI/LLMs, solutioning, and product development.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and data science libraries.
• Experience building and fine-tuning machine learning models.
• Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms, mathematical foundations, and model confidence measurements.
• Deep knowledge of transformer models for various tasks.
• Skills in data preprocessing, exploration, and feature engineering.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with sequence classification, NER, image classification, and object detection models.
• Proficiency with GCP services such as Vertex AI and BigQuery.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Experience with regular expressions is advantageous.
