Job summary

The candidate should know Linux, shell-based tooling, and production software such as DaVinci Resolve, Autodesk Flame and Avid, with familiarity of Colorfront OSD and Transkoder.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Linux operating systems and shell-based tools.
  • Production tools including DaVinci Resolve, Autodesk Flame and Avid.
  • Good understanding of renders such as Colorfront OSD and Transkoder.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain metadata for digital content and process client content deliveries.
  • Manage data flow and delivery mechanisms (Hard Drive, FTP, Aspera, Signiant, SmartJOG).
  • Track work-in-progress to ensure on-time, accurate deliveries.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Maintain effective communication within the team and resolve issues promptly.
  • Engage in ongoing training and complete additional duties as required.

Position: Data I/O Technician

Location: Vancouver, BC (On-Site)

*Pay Range: $20.00 - $23.00 CAD hourly

POSITION SUMMARY:

Company 3 is seeking a swing shift Data Technician who possesses thorough knowledge of computer software and hardware and a variety of internet applications, networks and operating systems. The ideal candidate will also have great troubleshooting abilities and attention to detail. The goal is to build and maintain updated and efficient computer systems and networks to optimize the role of technology in business sustainability.

MAIN DUTIES:

The Data I/O Technician will create andmaintaindescriptive, technical, and structural metadata for digital content, as well as process incoming client-supplied content and outgoing work deliveries to keep the data flow moving efficiently.They will maintain a current andaccurateunderstanding of all work-in-progress in the production and delivery areas to ensure on-time andaccuratedelivery of content, and manage Hard Drive, FTP, Aspera, Signiant andSmartjogdelivery mechanisms.They will also be responsible for the following:

  • Ensure completed service orders are processed andforwardedfor invoicing.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues and perform root cause analysis
  • Maintain a positive team relationship through both written and verbal communication, as well as accurately fulfilling needs and resolving problems accurately, on time, withhigh qualitystandards and a positive attitude.
  • Engage in on-going trainingprogramsas necessary.
  • Completeadditionalduties asrequired.
WHAT YOU BRING:

The ideal candidate will have experience with Linux operating systems andshell-basedtools, as well as production tools including DaVinci Resolve,AutoDeskFlame and Avid. They must have working knowledge ofrendersoftware such asColorfrontOSD andTranskoder, and have a good, in-depth understanding of diverse computer systems and networks. Additional desired skills include:

  • LTO and related archiving software
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication ability
  • Outstanding organizational and time-management skills
  • Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles
  • Regularly exercises critical thought and creative problem solving
  • Experience managing a team of 5, typically working asynchronously
  • Be familiar with ticketing systems such as JIRA, or other Agile style task tracking software
  • Familiar with commonly used production cameras (ARRI, RED, Sony,etc.)
  • Is constantly engaged in learning and testingnew technologies
