Job summary

Thumbtack’s Data Engineering team is seeking a technical manager to lead two subteams responsible for core data models and revenue-related pipelines. You will own datasets for requests, projects, pros, and customers, partner with Finance to ensure auditable revenue models, and guide architecture decisions, while growing a capable engineering discipline.

You’ll work on two embedded subteams, set roadmaps, raise reliability, and mentor engineers to own end-to-end domain solutions.

Qualifications

• 6+ years building data or software systems in production.
• 2+ years managing engineers or leading teams.
• Proficient in SQL with dimensional and event modeling.
• Comfort with Python and code reviews.
• Experience owning datasets used by multiple teams.
• Strong collaboration and written communication.
• Commitment to inclusive team culture.

Responsibilities

• Deliver well-modeled, durable datasets for core entities used across the company.
• Partner with Finance to ensure revenue models are auditable and stable.
• Collaborate with Supply Acquisition and Business Platforms on roadmaps and priorities.
• Raising the reliability of core pipelines through tests, CI, anomaly detection, and contracts.
• Hire and grow mid-level and senior data engineers; develop TLs.
• Set engineering standards and govern review/test processes.
• Lead as a technical manager, making architecture decisions.
