Job summary

MNP is seeking a Data Developer for an 8-month term in Calgary to design and implement ETL/ELT processes and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality data solutions. You will support data modeling, ensure data quality and security, and optimize pipelines and costs across multiple data sources.

You will work with Python (PySpark) and notebook-based environments, leveraging your SQL and data warehousing expertise to drive scalable analytics in a professional services context.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in Data Engineering, ETL, or BI development.
• Experience with structured and semi-structured data formats.
• Proficient in Python (PySpark) for data tasks.
• Experience with notebook-based data engineering environments (Fabric, Synapse, Jupyter).
• Strong SQL and data warehousing knowledge; medallion architecture concepts.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing and implementing robust extract, transform, and load (ETL) and ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) processes
• Partner with cross-functional teams, including architects, data analysts and business users to create high-quality solutions
• Support data modelling initiatives to ensure data quality and accessibility
• Maintain and ensure data quality, integrity, security and consistency across multiple data sources and platforms
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for database, pipeline and integrations issues where and when needed
• Monitor platform performance and optimize costs to ensure efficiency and scalability
• Communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical audiences and contribute to process improvements
• Manage tasks independently while thriving in a collaborative environment and provide support to team members when needed
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of MNP’s services, business models, and industry context to align data solutions effectively

Skills and Experience

• 4+ years in Data Engineering, ETL development, or Business Intelligence development roles
• Strong expertise in working with both structured and semi-structured data formats
• Proficient in Python (PySpark) for data engineering and data transformation tasks
• Practical experience working with any notebook-based data engineering environment, such as Microsoft Fabric notebooks, Azure Synapse Analytics notebooks, Jupyter Notebooks, or other widely used enterprise or cloud-based data notebooks
• Strong demonstrated knowledge of SQL and database architecture patterns, including data warehousing, non-relational databases and medallion architecture concepts
• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical abilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Detail-oriented and committed to delivering high-quality solutions
• Experience in the accounting and professional services industry is an asset
