Job summary

The University of British Columbia's Dairy Education and Research Centre (DERC) seeks a Business Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day operations, facilities, and staff at the Agassiz dairy centre. The role reports to the Director and partners with the AHWR Manager to align operations with academic needs and financial targets.

Responsibilities include budgeting, contract negotiations, reporting with Finance, compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and coordinating with university

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
• Minimum of three years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one’s own; commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day dairy centre operations, including budget, supervision of staff, and facilities management.
• Develop policies for property management and physical resource maintenance and ensure compliance with university agencies.
• Negotiate pricing and delivery of services and equipment with vendors, and coordinate procurement through university systems.
• Ensure compliance with safety, health, and regulatory guidelines (Milk Industry Act, HACCP) and coordinate with AHWR and other units.
• Support outreach and collaboration with leadership, industry, and community partners to advance academic goals.
