Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde invites applications for a Biomedical Support Worker in Pathology based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow. The role provides essential laboratory support, including slide labelling, scanning and stock control, with a 36-hour week and shift pattern.

Qualifications

• 3 Highers at Grade C or above including Chemistry/Biology and Maths.
• SVQ3 in relevant science subject.
• Modern apprenticeship in life sciences or equivalent.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Good organisational and time management skills.
• Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of using IT systems.
• Understanding of safety when handling chemicals.

Responsibilities

• Label slides and perform block checking as part of quality control.
• Scan slides and documents in the digital workflow.
• Scan blocks for archive and manage receipts/deliveries.
• Maintain stock levels of chemicals, reagents and consumables.
• Share responsibility for health and safety within the laboratory.
• Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures.
• Follow sickness reporting, annual leave and health/safety policies.
• Commit to weekend and bank holiday rota.
