Job summary

Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) is seeking a Network and Data Security Technician (I) to implement and support networking and data security aligned with WRDSB objectives. The role requires 40 hours per week, year-round, with shift work possible and occasional driving.

The successful candidate will manage firewalls, web filtering, endpoint protection, DNS, certificates, and secure network architectures while collaborating with ITS staff on enterprise services and server deployments.

Qualifications

• University degree or college diploma in CS/Cybersecurity/IT with ongoing development.
• PCNSE certification preferred.
• 4 years of related security and network administration experience.
• Experience with web filtering, DNS, directory services, and network segmentation.
• Familiarity with Windows Server, Linux/Unix environments.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Maintain firewalls and secure remote access solutions.
• Configure enterprise web filtering and content security.
• Deploy endpoint protection and malware mitigation.
• Assist with cybersecurity incident investigations and logs.
• Support DNS records and IP addressing.
• Support web server platforms and CMS.
• Manage SSL/TLS certificates and encryption standards.
• Collaborate on enterprise services and server deployments.
• Design secure network architectures including DMZ and hybrid cloud.
• Assist with remote desktop support, asset tracking, and software delivery.
• Support backup verification and business continuity testing.
• Other duties as assigned.
