• 1+ year experience in Canadian Customs regulations and import/export.
• Strong understanding of trade regulations including HTS classification.

Responsibilities

• Oversee customs paperwork for outbound shipments and upload to CERS.
• Coordinate with customs brokers and freight forwarders for shipments.
• Audit invoices for accuracy and manage shipment processes.

Job description

Our client in Waterloo Region is looking for an experienced Customs Compliance Specialist with certifications in International Trade Practices (CIFFA/FITT) and working towards a Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) designation to join them in a permanent full-time role!

As the Customs Compliance Specialist you will oversee the day-to-day business of importing and exporting goods, customs related activities for the company and provide compliance and regulatory support to the organization.

Job Responsibilities:

• Providevariousinternationalcustomspaperworkforoutbound shipmentsanduploadtheexport declaration to Customs Export Reporting System (CERS)
• CoordinatewithinternaldepartmentsaswellasUS& Canadiancustomsbrokers,freightforwardersand various carriers to arrange worldwide shipments and maintain an efficient customs release
• RespondtoUS&Canadianbrokersinquiries,providecustomspaperworkandUSMCA(CUSMA),DOT forms – H7, EPA, Bearing checklists, ADD/CVD quarterly forms
• Communicatingwithfreightforwarders,bothlocalandoverseas,toarrangeFullContainerLoad(FCL), Less than Container Load (LCL), and air shipments
• Toeffectivelymanagetheshipmentprocessfromdeparturetodeliveryatthedoor,whilekeeping vendors informed via email and providing the necessary paperwork
• RequestUSMCA/CUSMAfromvendors.
• Audittruckcarriers,customsbrokers,andfreightforwarderinvoicesforaccuracyandanydiscrepancies
• Stayingcurrentwithcustomsandtariffrulings,aswellasregulatorymatters
