The Opportunity: The Transportation & Customs Compliance Specialist manages Customs Clearance and Brokerage duties, supporting internal plants and vendors, completing customs documentation, and liaising with 3PL customs brokers and internal teams. The role ensures accurate, timely release and classification of entries, supporting quality assurance and import/export operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead timely and accurate import/export of food commodities.
  • Develop strategies to meet supply chain objectives.
  • Coach teams and promote continuous improvement.

Technical Skills:

  • Meet border crossing deadlines and manage customs documentation and tariff classifications.
  • Prepare documentation for non-standard international shipments.
  • Support USDA/FDA/CFIA compliance and manage related data and billing.
  • Understand and manage CARM payments and import/export regulations.
  • Independently manage tasks with limited supervision.

Qualifications:

  • Secondary School diploma; CCS or higher certification preferred.
  • 3-5 years of customs experience across all modes.
  • Knowledge of customs laws, tariffs, and regulations related to food and machinery imports/exports.
  • Professional designations (e.g., CITT, P.Log, CITP) or supply chain management credentials are assets.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP TM, and distribution logistics.
