Job Summary of the Customs Compliance Specialist position
Integr8staff seeks a Customs Compliance Specialist to help assess and enhance the duty rates paid by the company, provide support to international teams, and offer guidance
on the best production and customs clearance strategies. The Customs Compliance Specialist will educate the company on how to navigate regulations and adapt them to their specific needs, conduct audits, prepare reports based on observations, and keep thorough documentation. The Customs Compliance Specialist will also be responsible for all custom document preparation required to process import shipments and coordination of duty drawback process.
Responsibilities of the Customs Compliance Specialist position
Serve as the primary internal expert on U.S. import regulations, including HTS classification, valuation, country of origin determination, Free Trade Agreements, anti-dumping/countervailing duties, and other applicable trade laws.
Ensure strict adherence to CBP and other government agencies (OGA) requirements.
Ensure accurate and timely preparation, review, and submission of all customs-related documentation (e.g., CBP Form 7501, ISF filings, commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, import licenses).
Strategically analyze customs duties, taxes, and other associated fees to ensure cost-effectiveness and compliance.
Process Duty drawbacks.
Monitor and analyze customs clearance data, prepare comprehensive reports on compliance metrics, performance, and costs, identifying actionable insights.
Review and evaluate product import classification and work with a sourcing team to
optimize paid duty.
Propose duty management optimalization process including options for free trade zone arrangements and management in the future.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with overseas agents, carriers, truckers,
warehouses and customers to provide the best service possible to our customers.
Manage and update various tables and spreadsheets relating to Import matters and ensure
integrity of the information in the company’s systems
Support CTPAT compliance
Requirements of the Customs Compliance Specialist position
Minimum four (4) years’ experience in the Custom brokerage industry
Knowledge of C-TPAT requirements and Harmonized Tariff Schedule.
Strong Excel skills as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
3+ years of knowledge of HTS codes and customs compliance
Established relations with custom broker agents.
Advanced strategic planning skills, advanced problem solving and ability to analyze business processes and workflow.
Ability to take initiative, set priorities, learn quickly and take ownership of assigned
projects & initiatives.
Ability to analyze complex data and regulatory requirements.
Maintains high ethical standards and ensures compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Read, write, and speak English fluently, bilingual in Mandarin is a plus
