A leading logistics company seeks a skilled Lead Customs Specialist in Mississauga to manage a team of customs specialists. You will oversee customs processes, ensure compliance, and implement efficient customs operations, safeguarding against regulatory issues. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in customs regulations and team leadership.
Lead and manage a team of customs specialists, providing guidance, support, and coaching as needed.
Serve as the primary point of contact for all duty and customs regulatory inquiries, offering support and guidance to the team and clients.
Track team progress and productivity, assisting with issues related to releases and customs inquiries.
Ensure timely entry submissions to prevent storage issues and delays for customers.
Close entries within the required timeframe to avoid penalties.
Manage and track issues and tasks, implementing root cause corrective actions as necessary.
Design and implement improved customs processes to enhance organizational efficiency and compliance.
Handle E29B entries and carnet applications.
Provide after-hours support for team members as needed.
Communicate promptly with Rhenus offices and other agents regarding inquiries.
Assist team with drawback processes.
Conduct audits of customs entries to ensure accuracy in H.S. Codes, tariff treatment, VDF codes, currency, and other aspects before submission to Cadex.
Oversee relationships with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and Rhenus partners to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
Manage inbound imports into Canada and exports to the US and other international destinations.
Monitor ITMR for Cadex, rejects, and exams daily, ensuring no entries are overdue.
Collaborate with clients to provide HS codes for new product launches and ensure compliance.
Review and update HS codes and other relevant codes accurately and completely.
Support duty drawback processes and Canadian Duty Deferral program compliance.
Assist clients with Bond requirements, CARM, or other issues.
Set up new accounts for non-resident importers.
Handle export cites applications.
