Job description

On behalf of Eassons Transportation Group, we are seeking an experienced and strategic Freight Brokerage Manager to join their team.

Since 1945, Eassons Transportation Group has been family-owned and operated. Headquartered in Kentville, NS, the company has terminals in Coldbrook, NS; Sydney, NS; Albany, PEI; Moncton, NB; Mount Pearl, NL; Belleville, ON; and Mississauga, ON. Eassons operates 300 trucks and employs 500 people, providing dry and temperature-controlled TL/LTL services across Canada and the United States.

As a Manager of Freight Brokerage, you will work closely with the Eassons Group of Companies, sales team and current client base to identify new business opportunities outside our core and explore strategic growth and expansion opportunities throughout North America.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for establishing the strategic direction of the freight brokerage division, in partnership with the Eassons executive team. This includes establishing both short and long-term goals to grow the Freight Brokerage division while delivering on performance and projected financial results.
  • A strategic partner, working with the Eassons sales team, to grow sales primarily for non-asset-based opportunities but also asset-based business opportunities in support of the sales team’s efforts.
  • Assists, coaches, mentors, and leads the team to achieve goals and stretch targets.
  • Oversee the development of stable quality carriers throughout North America for business outside the Eassons fleet.
  • Responsible for negotiating rates and providing value-added services for our Carrier and Customer partners.
  • Keep abreast of the competitive landscape, and be fully aware of pricing, key customers, competitive issues, and trends in the industry.

Qualification and Experience:

  • University degree with a concentration in business, logistics, or equivalent experience.
  • CITT-Certified Logistics Professional (CCLP) designation or equivalent is an asset.
  • 5+ years of experience leading a team of Operations, Sales, and Administrative personnel in the Freight Brokerage industry.
  • Strong knowledge of the transportation, logistics, freight forwarding, LTL, TL, Courier, and warehousing industries.

The ideal candidate will have exceptional communication skills and the ability to influence effectively, along with strong business acumen and a talent for balancing strategic thinking with tactical execution. They will be a self-starter with a results-driven mindset, excelling at managing priorities, motivating teams, building high-performance leadership groups, and fostering an engaging, collaborative culture.
