Job summary

The Huron Perth Catholic District School Board is seeking a Permanent Custodian at St. Marys School, Listowel, Ontario.

This .5 FTE permanent position offers a stable, community-focused role in maintaining a safe and clean school environment for students and staff. The successful candidate will operate cleaning equipment, perform routine maintenance, handle snow removal, and assist with minor repairs as needed.

Qualifications

• Prior custodial and cleaning experience is required.
• Experience in a school setting is an asset.
• Mechanical aptitude for minor repairs and maintenance.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with computers; Google Workspace is a plus.

• Operate cleaning equipment to remove scraps, dirt, heavy debris, etc.
• Wash windows, interior walls and ceilings.
• Empty trash cans and other waste containers.
• Sweep, mop, scrub and wax hallways, floors and stairs.
• Clean snow and ice from walkways and parking areas.
• Tend grounds and plants as required by the Principal.
• Clean and disinfect washrooms, lunchrooms and fixtures.
• Move furniture, equipment and supplies.
• May perform minor repairs as required.

Permanent Custodian

The Custodian, reporting to the Principal, is responsible for providing a safe and clean work environment for staff and students, by performing general cleaning and maintenance duties to the school property and grounds. This position is .5 FTE Permanent position at St. Marys School, Listowel, Ontario. The hourly wage is $25.29 per hour.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate cleaning equipment to remove scraps, dirt, heavy debris, etc.
• Wash windows, interior walls and ceilings.
• Empty trash cans and other waste containers.
• Sweep, mop, scrub and wax hallways, floors and stairs.
• Clean snow and ice from walkways and parking areas.
• Tend grounds and plants as required by the Principal.
• Clean and disinfect washrooms, lunchrooms and fixtures.
• Move furniture, equipment and supplies.
• May perform minor repairs as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous custodial and/or cleaning experience is required;
• Previous custodial and/or clearing experience in a school environment is an asset;
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform minor repairs;
• Ability to work as part of a team;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
• Proficient computer skills are required; experience with Google Workspace is an asset.
