Job summary

ESS Compass in Smithers, BC is seeking a Custodian/Janitor to keep buildings clean, including heavy cleaning like floor scrubbing, rug shampooing, glass washing, and rubbish removal. Travel and accommodations are provided; shift is 10 hours per day with a 21-on/7-off rotation.

Local applicants are preferred and benefits begin after 3 months. The role requires a valid driver's license, 1+ year custodian experience, and the ability to follow directions.

Qualifications

• 1+ year custodian/janitorial experience in commercial or camp environments.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• WHMIS and BSW certifications are assets.
• Good command of English, both verbal and written.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physical ability to perform all job tasks.

Responsibilities

• Collect and dispose of trash following approved procedures and infection control plans.
• Dust and damp mop floors as directed.
• Move and arrange furniture for cleaning and return it to place.
• Clean areas with assigned materials and sanitize surfaces.
• Wash walls, windows, furniture, baseboards and other items.
• Identify areas needing cleaning and complete tasks.
• Complete tasks as assigned by supervisor.
• Strip, scrub, buff and refinish floors; shampoo carpets.
• Driving is required for this position.

Description

As a Custodian/Janitor you will be responsible for keeping buildings clean and orderly, and performing heavy cleaning duties, including cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish

• Collect and dispose of trash following approved procedures and infection control plans
• Dust and damp mops floors following approved procedures
• Move equipment and furniture for proper cleaning and place furniture back in correct placement
• Clean assigned areas with the use of assigned materials and equipment. Sanitize all surfaces.
• Wash walls, windows, furniture, baseboards, and other items to maintain a clean, safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff
• Seek out areas requiring cleaning; take initiative to complete the task
• Complete all tasks assigned by supervisor
• Strip, scrub, buff and refinish floors, shampoo carpet
• Driving is required for this position

The hourly wage for this position is $22.00 .Final compensation will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
