Job summary

MacEwan University in Edmonton is seeking a Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across the campus, working 10:00pm–6:00am. This full-time continuing position offers a wage of $16.845–$24.515 per hour and $30,657–$44,617 per annum based on a 35-hour week.

Key duties include detailed cleaning of windows, washrooms, and classrooms, disinfection, waste disposal, and reporting incidents to Security Services.

Qualifications

• Minimum completion of Grade 10 education.
• WHMIS certification.
• Minimum of 3 years of cleaning experience in a similar setting.
• Building Service Worker Certificate is an asset.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Detailed cleaning of windows, fixtures, entrance matting and floors.
• Vacuuming and steam cleaning carpets.
• Disinfecting washrooms, showers and locker rooms.
• Dusting ledges and waxing floors.
• Re-arranging and lifting furniture.
• Collecting waste and recycling and disposing of it properly.
• Replacing paper products and sanitizers.
• Reporting significant incidents to Security Services.
• Removing snow at entrances.
• Setting up classrooms.

MacEwan University is seeking a Custodian for a full-time continuing opportunity with our Custodial Department.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our students, staff, and visitors across the university campus.

Key responsibilities include:

• Detailed cleaning of windows, light fixtures, entrance matting, and floors;
• Vacuuming and steam cleaning carpets;
• Disinfecting washrooms, showers and locker rooms;
• Dusting all ledges and waxing floors;
• Re-arranging and lifting furniture;
• Collecting waste and recycling from all areas and disposing of it properly;
• Replacing paper products and sanitizers;
• Reporting all significant incidents to Security Services;
• Removing snow at entrances; and
• Setting up classrooms.

Skills

You will have:

• The ability to operate custodial equipment;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills;
• The ability to perform physically demanding work; and
• Proven knowledge of safe chemical handling practices.

Qualifications

• A minimum completion of Grade 10 education.
• WHMIS certification.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience with cleaning in a similar type setting.
• A Building Service Worker Certificate is considered an asset.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
