Job summary

City of Brantford is seeking a Custodian/Cleaner (Part-Time) to maintain clean and safe facilities across City sites, including washrooms and public areas. Shifts may include days, evenings and nights, with weekend/holiday coverage as needed.

Reporting to the Supervisor of Custodial Services, duties include cleaning, vacuuming, mopping, dusting and garbage removal. Must have First Aid CPR C and Police Check; valid Ontario G license asset.

Qualifications

  • Previous cleaning experience and excellent customer service with the public and staff.
  • The ability to adapt to changing situations and shifts.
  • Must have safe working habits and physical ability to perform duties.

Reporting to the Supervisor of Custodial Services, the Custodian/Caretaker/Cleaner will provide custodial services at various City of Brantford Facilities to ensure a safe, clean, neat atmosphere for staff and the public. The duties of this position include but are not limited to cleaning the washrooms, showers, dressing rooms and public areas; vacuuming all carpeted areas, cleaning all hard surface floors by way of conventional mopping or powered floor scrubbers, dusting and garbage removal. The hours of work are scheduled in advance and can include days, evenings, and night shifts. The incumbent could also be required to work weekends and holidays.

Qualifications
  • Applicants will have previous cleaning experience and excellent customer service skills in dealing with the public and co-workers.
  • The successful candidate must be flexible to adapt to situations as they occur.
  • Applicants must have the ability and skills to perform the duties listed above in a reasonable period of time.
  • Must have excellent safe working habits.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs and climb stairs for working in the stands.
  • A valid Standard First Aid Certificate with a level "C" CPR is mandatory prior to commencing employment.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants must submit a current Police Vulnerable Sector Check (dated within the past 3 months) from their local police service for approval by the Corporation prior to commencing employment.
  • A valid Ontario Class G Drivers License would be considered an asset.
  • Be willing and able to travel to work to various City site locations as required.
