Job summary

OPENLANE is seeking a Custodian to maintain the Vehicle Logistic Center in excellent condition, ensuring clean, safe spaces for customers and employees.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years in custodial work, a valid Class 5 license, basic computer and smartphone skills, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs; there are training and growth opportunities within a global organization.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the building interior with routine cleaning tasks (walls, floors, doors, dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, buffing).
• Clean and sanitize washrooms and keep them stocked.
• Maintain exterior areas (light landscaping, trash removal, lawn/parking/walkways).
• Remove waste, compost and recycling to designated areas.
• Prepare and clean auction lanes before/after sale day.
• Assist with snow and ice removal; may operate plow/bobcat/salter.
• May assist with light repairs or maintenance projects.

Are you ready to be part of a dynamic team in the automotive industry? OPENLANE, a leader in automotive remarketing, is looking for a Custodian to help us keep our Vehicle Logistic Center (VLC) in top shape. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a similar role.

You Are:

• Attentive. You notice when an area needs a little TLC, and will ensure our facility is kept clean and in good condition for our customers and employees.
• Adaptable. You will be able to pause & shift tasks to assist other departments with priority requests.
• Careful. You are mindful of your surroundings, working safely and carefully.
• Dependable. You are reliable and can be counted on to complete your tasks as assigned.

You Will:

• Maintain the building interior by completing routine cleaning tasks, including cleaning walls, floors, doors, dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and buffing floors
• Clean and sanitize washrooms and ensure washrooms are fully stocked
• Maintain the exterior of the property, including light landscaping, removing trash, and general upkeep of lawn, parking lot, and walkways.
• Remove waste, compost, and recycling from VLC buildings to designated areas
• Preparing and cleaning the auction lanes before/after sale day
• Assist with snow and ice removal from the lots and walkways, which includes manual snow removal and may include operating a plow, bobcat, or salter to assist
• May assist with light repairs or maintenance projects

Must Haves:

• 1-3 years’ experience in a custodian role
• Valid Class 5 Drivers’ license is required
• Basic computer & smartphone skills required
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs independently

Nice to Haves:

• Ability to drive both standard & automatic transmissions
• Previous use of maintenance equipment (floor cleaner, buffer, etc.)
