Job summary

The Listuguj Mi’gmaq Development Centre (LMDC) is seeking a motivated Custodian to maintain its building and grounds in a clean, safe, and welcoming condition. This full-time role focuses on cleaning, basic maintenance, and outdoor upkeep to support staff, students, clients, and visitors in Listuguj, QC.

The position requires physical work, the ability to follow safety procedures, and the capacity to work independently as well as with a team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum two (2) years of cleaning, custodial, or maintenance work preferred.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, standing, and outdoor work in various weather conditions.
• Basic maintenance and repair skills.
• Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
• Reliable, dependable, and attentive to detail.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Valid driver's license is an asset.
• Successful candidate must provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check prior to employment.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain offices, classrooms, meeting rooms, washrooms, and common areas.
• Empty waste and recycling bins and restock cleaning and facility supplies.
• Perform basic maintenance and minor repairs, including painting and light upkeep.
• Conduct routine facility inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns.
• Maintain building grounds, including litter collection, lawn care, and snow/ice removal.
• Set up and take down rooms for meetings, events, and training activities.
• Move furniture, equipment, and supplies as required.
• Operate custodial equipment safely and follow health and safety procedures.
• Monitor inventory and assist in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming facility.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
