Job summary

CKUA, a historic public broadcaster based in downtown Edmonton, seeks a Director of Finance to lead a small team and drive budgets, forecasts and reporting. This hands‑on role focuses on risk management, regulatory compliance, grant reporting, and ensuring financial systems (QuickBooks Online, ADP Workforce) meet organizational needs.

You’ll influence long‑term planning, partner with senior leaders, and maintain a people‑first approach to numbers in a hybrid, Edmonton‑based setting.

Qualifications

• Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 8–10 years of progressive financial experience with 4+ years of leadership.
• Experience with QuickBooks Online and ADP Workforce.

Responsibilities

• Oversee budgets, forecasts, payroll processing, reporting, and internal controls.
• Lead risk management and collaborate cross‑departmentally to identify and mitigate risks.
• Review contracts to ensure alignment with budgets, insurance, and policies.
• Direct grant and donor reporting; ensure revenue is recorded and receipted accurately.
• Serve as CKUA’s Privacy Officer and maintain data protection standards.
• Mentor and develop a small finance team and support strategic decision‑making.
