Job summary

Compass Group Canada is hiring a kitchen position at base wage $27.56 per hour (base $22.55 + $5.01/hr SSO wage). The role involves preparing, pre-cooking and cooking food to corporate standards, with emphasis on mise en place, hygiene, and teamwork.

The candidate should have proven cooking experience, Food Safety Certification, and a credential from a recognized cooking school. Excellent communication and the ability to work both independently and with a team are required.

Qualifications

• Proven cooking experience in restaurant or prep cook roles.
• Excellent understanding of cooking methods, ingredients, and equipment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, pre-cook and/or cook food products as directed.
• Prepare mise en place and other products for high volume production.
• Clean kitchen equipment after use per health and safety policies.
• Label, date, store and rotate food and beverages properly.
• Communicate effectively with operational departments.
• Report maintenance issues or accidents to supervisor immediately.
• Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
