Beacon Hill Wealth Management, a dual-registered Canada–US portfolio firm in Victoria, BC, seeks an experienced cross-border CPA to lead tax advisory, firm finance, and regulatory compliance. This role evolves into Senior Cross-Border Tax Planner, CFO, and Chief Compliance Officer.
You will advise Americans relocating to Canada, untangle complex residency and treaty issues, and help shape cross-border strategy across North America. Office-based in Victoria.
If you've spent years in public practice grinding through tax seasons and you're ready to use that expertise differently — advising rather than preparing, building rather than billing — this is that move.
Beacon Hill Wealth Management is a dual-registered (BCSC/SEC) portfolio management firm with over $600 million in assets under management — and growing fast. We specialize in cross-border Canada–US wealth management, working with Americans building lives in Canada and Canadians with ties to the US — clients whose financial lives don't fit neatly on one side of the border.
We're hiring an experienced cross-border CPA for a role that doesn't really exist anywhere else: one seat combining tax advisory, firm finance, and regulatory compliance — with a genuine leadership track to match. The person who owns this role will grow into the firm's senior cross-border tax planner, CFO, and Chief Compliance Officer.
You're a US CPA with 5–10 years of cross-border Canada–US tax experience. Canadian CPA designation is an asset. You've sat across from clients and untangled genuinely hard problems — residency determinations, treaty tie-breaker positions, retirement accounts straddling the border, departure tax, FBAR and FATCA compliance — and explained them in plain English.
You're the person who catches the error everyone else missed. You don't wait to be told what's next; you see what needs doing and you do it. When something lands on your desk, it's handled — and people around you know it will be.
1. Senior Cross-Border Tax Planner — the firm's technical authority on Canada–US planning, leading the advisory practice as it scales
2. CFO — full ownership of firm finance, reporting, and regulatory capital
3. Chief Compliance Officer — we'll fund and support the NI 31-103 proficiency path (Canadian Securities Course and the Chief Compliance Officers Qualifying Exam), and your compliance work at the firm builds the regulatory experience the role requires
This is a real succession plan with a defined timeline — not a carrot.
We advise on planning year-round — nobody here works until midnight in April. No six-day weeks from February to June. No stacking 80 returns on your desk while you eat dinner at your keyboard. You'll use the same cross-border expertise you built in public practice, but you'll use it to actually think — advising clients on complex planning, not racing through compliance deadlines.
