Job summary

Canada Cartage in Vancouver area is seeking dependable Class 1 drivers for cross-border routes between Canada and the United States. This full-time role requires a safety-focused, customer-oriented professional who can represent the company while delivering freight on time.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 1 driver's license.
• FAST Card required for Cross Border.
• Bondable and legally eligible to work in Canada.
• Clean CVOR and driver’s abstract.
• Verifiable recent commercial driving experience.
• Knowledge of road safety regulations and hours of service.
• Knowledge of load securement.
• Experience operating commercial vehicles in winter driving conditions.
• Ability to complete eLogs and delivery documentation.
• Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs as required.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Minimum 1 year of verifiable Class 1 driving experience.
• Strong knowledge of Vancouver and surrounding areas.
• Experience with tailgates, forklifts, pallet jacks, pump trucks, Moffett's.
• Hand-bombing ability.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate company vehicles to transport freight across Canada and the United States.
• Complete deliveries and pickups at customer locations within Canada and the United States in a safe, timely, and professional manner.
• Operate tractor-trailer, flatbed, dry van, reefer or straight truck equipment in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Secure freight using appropriate equipment such as straps, chains, and load bars, ensuring compliance with load-securement standards.
• Transport general freight in accordance with safety and regulatory guidelines.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections of the vehicle, including checking tires, brakes, lights, and cargo securement; promptly report any issues to the maintenance department for timely repairs.
• Accurately complete all required documentation, including e-logs, inspection reports, delivery paperwork, and incident reports.
• Maintain compliance with hours-of-service regulations, safety policies, and company procedures.
• Maintain flexibility to meet operational and customer demands, including variable schedules, overtime, weekends, or overnight runs as required.
