Job summary

Canada Cartage is seeking a professional and safety‑oriented Class 1 Truck Driver. You will operate a large truck between city and regional routes, performing pre-trip/post-trip inspections and ensuring timely, secure cargo delivery.

You will follow DOT regulations, document shipments, and coordinate loading/unloading with dispatch. Strong driving skills, reliability, and customer service are essential in this role at Canada Cartage, a long‑standing Canadian logistics leader.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 1/AZ license required.
• Clean 5-year commercial driving abstract (no more than 3 demerits and 3 negative events).
• Minimum 1 year Class 1 driving experience.
• Must have manual transmission experience.
• Must have hand bombing experience.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Comfortable with smartphone technology.
• Reliable, flexible, punctual and safe driving behaviors.
• Comfortable backing in all manner of tight spaces and locations.
• Must be bondable and legally able to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Operates vehicle safely and responsibly, adhering to all DOT and company safety regulations.
• Conducts routine pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle is in optimal condition.
• Manages cargo documentation and provides necessary paperwork upon delivery.
• Coordinates loading and unloading of the truck, ensuring cargo is secured.
• Maintains contact with dispatcher for status updates and to relay delays or issues.
