You will be accountable for monitoring, maintaining and managing high volume customer collection accounts and will reduce delinquency for your assigned portfolio. This opportunity reports into the Collections Manager and is responsible for the collections of TMX Group and its subsidiaries.
The role involves interacting with business leaders to manage their outstanding receivables through ongoing efforts to reduce aged accounts receivable (AR) while maintaining good relationships with both internal and external clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regular review of AR aging to identify delinquent balances and prioritize collection efforts, focusing on outstanding balances and invoice aging to improve results year over year.
- Collaborate with Business Divisions to address delinquent, unresolved aged balances, and disputes.
- Review customer accounts and process refunds, unapplied cash, credits, and adjustments as applicable.
- Educate customers on payment terms, contractual obligations, and the consequences of late or non-payment.
- Implement professional collection efforts to improve collection rates while maintaining client relationships.
- Perform account reconciliations, trace invoicing and payment history, and handle allocations and adjustments across multiple accounts and divisions.
- Maintain detailed notes on all past due accounts and document collection methods and actions taken.
- Provide administrative support and handle customer inquiries related to billing and payments.
- Follow up on unclear payments and perform skip tracing to update contact and billing information.
- Identify and report risks related to bankruptcy and collection activities.
- Build and maintain internal processes for transaction processing, including write-offs, and review system updates and community discussions for process improvements.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate and timely payment allocations and updates.
- Encourage clients to use faster and safer payment methods such as PAD, wire, online, or EFT to streamline collections and reduce receivables and risk.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3-5 years of collections experience.
- Excellent quantitative and mathematical skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to track transactions over long periods.
- Persistence in pursuing outstanding receivables despite resistance.
- Effective communication skills to resolve issues and handle customer concerns.
- Ability to maintain professional relationships and provide excellent customer service.
- Proficiency with MS Office; Workday ERP experience is a plus.
