Job summary

Alstom in Saint-Bruno, Quebec, Canada, invites a Mechanical Calculation Engineer to apply structural design and advanced simulation to ensure safety and performance of passenger rail vehicle components.

You will collaborate with structural integrity, design, and supply chain teams, create and validate FE models, run crash simulations, and provide engineering recommendations to improve performance and manufacturability.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on structural design or mechanical analysis.
• Membership in OIQ or CPI (or eligibility) is required or preferred.
• Strong knowledge of FEA and experience with major CAE tools.

Responsibilities

• Define qualification and validation plans per technical specs and standards.
• Develop specifications for purchased components with supply chain teams.
• Perform advanced mechanical analyses including stress, fatigue, buckling.
• Build numerical models of railway components and crash devices.
• Perform crash simulations and propose design improvements.
• Calibrate numerical models against tests and produce crash reports.
• Report results and issues to project teams.
