Job summary

Lower Mainland Purpose Society for Youth and Families (Purpose Society) is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to supervise accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and funder reporting. The position is based in New Westminster, in-office, with oversight of a dedicated accounting team.

Qualifications

• CPA designation in good standing.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting and financial management in a nonprofit.
• Experience with government-funded programs, grants and fund accounting.
• Strong knowledge of ASNPO, reporting and internal controls.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, and variance analysis.
• Experience preparing financial statements and managing month-end, year-end, and external audit processes.
• Advanced Excel and accounting software proficiency.
• Experience supervising accounting staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations of the accounting department and supervise staff.
• Oversee month-end and year-end close and timely reporting.
• Prepare financial statements, budgets, forecasts, cash flow analyses and variance reports.
• Lead annual budgeting with program directors and management.
• Monitor grants, contracts, restricted funds and funding requirements.
• Submit reports to government funders and respond to inquiries.
• Lead external audits and coordinate schedules and documentation.
• Ensure ASNPO compliance, internal controls and policies.
• Maintain and improve accounting procedures and systems.
• Oversee payroll accounting and reporting.
• Provide financial advice to Executive Director, management and Board.
• Identify opportunities to improve reporting, systems and controls.
• Support other financial projects and reporting requirements.
