Job summary

Mission Community Services Society is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee the Finance Department, ensure GAAP compliance for not-for-profit operations, and support budget development. You will lead the accounting team, manage payroll and reporting, and collaborate with Directors and HR on staff hiring and development.

The role focuses on not-for-profit accounting, internal financial statements, and assisting with year-end audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.
• CPA designation or actively pursuing CPA.
• Minimum 2 years of full cycle accounting experience.
• Experience with GAAP for not-for-profit/charity organizations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Excel and accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Oversees a team providing accounting services including AP/AR, reconciliations, payroll, and reports.
• Provides leadership, coaching, and performance feedback to direct reports.
• Conducts regular performance evaluations and staff development.
• Collaborates with the Director and HR on hiring and onboarding of staff and practicum participants.
• Manages payroll hours, expense claims, and staff scheduling.
• Assists with budgeting, financial statements, and year-end audit preparation.
