Job summary

Gauer Olsen Chartered Professional Accountants in Victoria, BC, is seeking a CPA with 3–5 years in public practice to join our team. You will review corporate and personal taxes, prepare Compilation Engagement files and T2 returns, and mentor junior staff while delivering high-quality client service.

Qualifications

• Approximately 3–5 years working in a public practice role.
• CPA designation is required.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work in a team.
• Effective verbal and written communication with clients and colleagues.
• Knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook.

• Reviewing and preparing Canadian personal tax returns – intermediate level and above.
• Fulfils mentoring roles for clients and junior staff.
• Prepare/review GST and other statutory returns as required.

• Understanding of corporate tax balances (CDA, RDTOH, GRIP etc.)
• Preparation of corporate or personal tax planning scenario calculations
• Reviewing and preparing of Canadian personal tax returns – intermediate level files and above
• Fulfils a variety of support and mentoring roles for clients and junior staff
• Prepare/review GST and other statutory returns for clients as required
• Assists with special projects as assigned by partners and senior managers

Qualifications:

• Approximately 3-5 years working in a public practice role
• CPA designation
• Great work ethic and ability to work in a team environment
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact professionally with both clients and colleagues
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• High attention to detail

Additional skills of a preferred candidate:

• Familiarity with accounting and tax software (SAGE, QuickBooks, TaxPrep, CaseWare)
• Corporate accounting or financial statement experience
• Corporate tax experience
• Personal tax experience
• Bookkeeping experience
