Methods and materials for the teaching of reading.

This course is not Team Taught or offered online.

Teaching Qualification Requirements (TQRs):
  • Education
    • MA in a relevant field (i.e. Reading methodologies for elementary school-aged children, science of reading)
    • PhD or equivalent in a relevant field is an asset
  • Experience
    • 1.Experience as a master teacher/instructor in reading methods and/or extensive relevant experience as an elementary school educator/pedagogue.
    • - Theory and practice of teaching reading in the k/elementary classrooms
    • - Historical and contemporary issues affecting literacy/multi-literacies teaching
    • - Science of reading: reading process and applications to teaching and learning
    • - QEP Language Arts curriculum across all cycles
    • - Planning, teaching and evaluation of reading
    • - Theory and practice for struggling readers
    • 2.Experience as a master teacher/instructor in the Quebec educational system
    • 3.Knowledge of the Quebec Education Program (QEP)
    • 4.Familiarity with the professional competencies specified by the Ministère de l’Éducation
  • Other
    • Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) at the undergraduate or graduate level
    • Knowledge of the impact and proven record integrating pedagogical approaches anchored to equity, diversity and inclusion
    • Familiarity using myCourses, ZOOM and other similar online platforms to facilitate quality teaching and learning experiences
    • Familiarity teaching blended classes is an asset
    • Familiarity with the application of a variety of digital teaching and learning tools
