Job summary

Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo invites applications for an instructor to teach INDG 220: First Nations and the Canadian State during Fall 2026 at the Nanaimo campus. The position emphasizes Indigenous knowledges, relationships, and perspectives within a collaborative learning environment grounded in Indigenous knowledges and community engagement.

The successful candidate will create and deliver course content, work with Indigenous/Xwulmuxw faculty, instruct, assess and grade student

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Indigenous Studies or a relevant discipline
  • Experience teaching at the undergraduate level
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with Indigenous communities

Responsibilities

  • Create and deliver course content for INDG 220
  • Work collaboratively with Indigenous/Xwulmuxw faculty
  • Instruct, assess and grade student achievement
  • Assist students in office hours

Education

Master's degree in Indigenous Studies or related discipline
Undergraduate teaching experience
Commitment to working with Indigenous communities
