Job summary

ISG Search Inc. is partnering with a major GTA construction leader to hire a Cost Controller. You will lead the cost control team, shape cost management systems, and drive strong financial controls across large-scale projects in the Toronto area.

You will partner with Project Managers and Construction Managers, oversee budgeting, forecasting, variances, and cash flow, and present metrics to senior leadership to support strategic decisions.

Qualifications

• Recognized accounting designation or Finance degree.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting, financial reporting or cost control experience, ideally within construction.
• Strong analytical skills to identify risks and provide actionable recommendations.
• Knowledge of financial controls, auditing practices and financial data analysis.
• Proven leadership skills and the ability to drive accountability and adherence to cost control processes.
• Understanding of project-based governance and risk management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong presentation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with Project Managers, Construction Managers and senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a cost control team, including project accountants and billing administrators.
• Develop and implement cost management systems, reporting frameworks and financial controls.
• Oversee financial reporting and analysis covering budgets, forecasts, overhead costs, variances, risks, opportunities and cash flow.
• Partner with Project Managers and Construction Managers to assess project risks and optimize contingency strategies.
• Improve reporting and forecasting through streamlined processes, dashboards and financial analysis.
• Support contract management by tracking approved and unapproved changes and identifying opportunities for financial improvement.
• Establish and present key performance metrics and financial insights to senior leadership.
• Analyze financial statements and provide actionable recommendations to support business decisions.
• Implement controls to mitigate financial risks across long-term construction projects.
