Job summary

Kapco Metal Stamping is seeking a Cost Accountant to support financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls across multiple entities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The role requires strong accounting knowledge, communication skills, and the ability to multitask while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
  • 1–3 years of accounting experience in financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, and GL management.
  • Cost accounting experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience with ERP systems and external audits is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Record journal entries, reconcile general ledger accounts, and prepare financial statements for multiple entities.
  • Analyze costs and prepare monthly reports on product costing, manufacturing results, and inventory valuation.
  • Collect and report KPI data for manufacturing, inventory, distribution, and gross margins.
  • Analyze inventory turns, costs, and variances; provide detailed reports to management for decisions.

The Cost Accountant

The Cost Accountant assists in accounting transactions, helps develop annual budgets, reconciles general ledger accounts, and reports on accounting transactions for multiple entities in a fast‑paced environment. This role requires an understanding of general accounting principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to multitask, use good judgment to prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. The position maintains confidentiality and handles sensitive information professionally while providing strong support for all operations through accurate reporting and effective communication with various departments.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting and Analysis
  • Record journal entries, reconcile general ledger accounts, and help prepare financial statements for multiple entities.
  • Analyze costs and prepare monthly reports related to product costing, manufacturing results, and inventory valuation.
  • Collect and report key performance indicator (KPI) data for manufacturing, inventory, distribution, and gross margins to track financial performance.
  • Analyze inventory turns, costs, and variances, providing detailed reports to management for strategic decision‑making.
Budgeting and Forecasting
  • Collaborate with various departments to develop and manage annual budgets, providing insights and recommendations for financial planning.
  • Calculate and project return on investment (ROI) and payback periods for capital projects, providing critical financial analysis for decision‑making.
  • Assist in financial forecasting, planning, and analysis activities to drive business growth and profitability.
Accounting Operations
  • Assist in overseeing physical inventory counts, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Coordinate with external auditors to ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
Internal Controls and Compliance
  • Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Ensure adherence to Core Values, Core Purpose, Core Operating Standards, and Brand Promise in all financial operations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all financial and sensitive information, always demonstrating discretion and professionalism.
Systems and Technology
  • Utilize ERP and accounting software systems proficiently.
  • Proficiency in Excel and experience with QuickBooks, payroll software, and other accounting systems.
  • Support other departments cooperatively and effectively, using various software systems.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration and Support
  • Communicate effectively with other departments to support cross‑functional initiatives and ensure accurate financial data reporting.
  • Provide strong support to operations through accurate reporting and effective communication.
  • Represent the company professionally in all interactions and support various departments as needed.
Performance Standards
  • Work collaboratively with others, follow directions, and provide clear instructions.
  • Multitask effectively in a fast‑paced environment, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Show exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Execute accurate and efficient data entry, focusing on precision.
  • Communicate complex financial information clearly, with excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Apply strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to identify and address financial discrepancies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in accounting, focusing on financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, and general ledger management.
  • Cost accounting experience in a manufacturing organization.
  • Experience with ERP systems, ERP implementation, and external audits is preferred.
