Position Summary:

SPE is seeking a proactive and results-driven Corporate Finance Manager to lead financial reporting and analysis across multiple entities. Reporting directly to the VP of Finance, this role is central to our month-end and year-end close processes and plays a key part in delivering insights that support strategic decision-making. You will lead a small finance team and collaborate with department heads across the organization and portfolio companies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting & Analysis:
  • Oversee the full month-end close process, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial statements.
  • Lead the year-end close process, ensuring all entries and accruals are accurate and deadlines are met.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial reports, dashboards, and management reporting packages.
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and business insights.
  • Tax & Compliance:
  • Review and support year-end corporate tax filings in coordination with external tax advisors.
  • Review HST and PST filings for accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and external regulatory requirements.
  • Cash Flow & Forecasting:
  • Prepare and maintain cash flow forecasts for the portfolio, highlighting risks, opportunities, and funding needs.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes across the portfolio.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
  • Manage and develop a small team of finance professionals, providing coaching, guidance, and performance oversight.
  • Process Improvement & ERP Implementation:
  • Lead the implementation and optimization of ERP systems across the finance function in the portfolio.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives and automation tools that enhance reporting efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business; CPA or equivalent designation is strongly preferred.
  • 6+ years of progressive experience in finance or accounting, with experience managing people and processes.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, HST/PST regulations, and corporate tax fundamentals.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP system implementation or upgrades is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain high-quality working papers and documentation.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to work cross-functionally and across various levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple deliverables in a fast-paced environment.

Why Join SPE?
