We are seeking a results-driven Corporate Controller to lead the finance function and manage a team of five accounting professionals in person at a Kitchener location. This senior level role requires someone with strong technical expertise, proven leadership experience, and the ability to drive operational excellence across a group of five consolidated entities. You will also oversee consolidated financial reporting, tax compliance, budgeting, banking, and audits. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role is fully critical in maintaining the company’s financial health, compliance, and strategic fiscal planning.

Responsibilities:
- Supervise and support a team of 5 finance staff (AR, AP, Payroll).
- Prepare and analyze monthly consolidated financial statements (5 companies).
- Complete covenant calculations and prepare bank compliance reports.
- Oversee all tax remittances (income and excise) and ensure timely filing.
- Lead the preparation of year-end audit files; main liaison with external auditors.
- Conduct weekly cash flow forecasting, AR/AP oversight, and general ledger reviews.
- Manage project costing and reporting of under-performing projects.
- Prepare annual budgets in collaboration with department heads; monitor variances quarterly.
- Oversee daily banking activity and mitigate fraud risks.
- Serve as the administrator for all online banking systems.
- Approve payments to creditors and suppliers, including wires, EFTs, and cheque signings.
- Review AP vouchers and invoices; serve as the first cheque signer.
- Issue monthly National Account Summary reports (actual vs. forecasted sales and rebates).
- Lead the hiring, training, and performance management of finance staff.
- Identify cost savings, streamline operations, and eliminate redundancy.
- Partner with sales and marketing to manage vendor contract financials.
- Support year-end closing activities.
- Evaluate internal controls and operational processes for improvements.
- Serve as an internal tax resource (Canada and U.S.) and communicate with auditors/banks.
Requirements
- CPA designation is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred;
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at the management level.
- Experience using Jonas Construction Software is essential.
- Deep knowledge of Canadian and U.S. accounting principles, taxation, and audit processes.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to coach and manage a high-performing team.
- Advanced Excel skills (including formulas, modeling, analysis).
- Strong business acumen, analytical mindset, and high integrity.
