Job description

The Cahill Group is seeking eager and collaborative candidates for a Corporate Buyer in St. John’s, NL. This exciting opportunity will allow you to work within our dynamic Supply Chain team and play an integral role in developing procurement sourcing strategies and identifying opportunities for cost savings. As a Corporate Buyer, you will also be responsible for creating and managing purchase orders in accordance with company policies and procedures.

The Corporate Buyer will issue RFPs and negotiate commercial terms including price and delivery of materials, equipment, and services, focusing on the total cost of acquisition. You will demonstrate excellent communication skills to develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers and stakeholders, as well as internal departments such as estimating, project controls, and project managers to meet project needs. This is a permanent position, working Monday through Friday, with a hybrid work arrangement that includes both in-office and remote work from our corporate office.

What will you do?
  1. Review BOM, develop procurement plans, and review field requisitions to develop procurement sourcing strategies and identify opportunities for cost savings.
  2. Issue RFPs and negotiate commercial terms including price and delivery of materials, equipment, and services, focusing on total cost of acquisition.
  3. Create and manage purchase orders in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  4. Identify supply chain risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact.
  5. Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and internal departments such as estimating, project controls, and project managers.
  6. Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and effectiveness.
  7. Perform other duties as required.
What will you bring?
  • Minimum of five (5) years buying experience is required.
  • Construction experience with a focus in electrical and/or mechanical fields is considered an asset.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution is preferred.
  • Professional certification or training through an accredited procurement organization such as the SCMA or NISCL is considered an asset.
  • High proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
  • Ability to work efficiently with ERP systems and digital document control platforms.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
