Job summary

Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver, BC invites you to join Vancouver Coastal Health as Coordinator, Volunteer Resources, partnering with staff, patients, and community groups to build and coordinate volunteer programs. You will recruit and train volunteers, establish relationships, and ensure program compliance across acute, community, and long-term care settings.

A Bachelor’s degree and three years of related experience are preferred, with strong communication and organizational skills

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences plus three years' related experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to supervise and organize work.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes and maintains working relationships, conducts needs assessments, coordinates and evaluates volunteer programs
  • Recruits and trains volunteers and coordinates their deployment.
  • Acts as a resource for staff who interact with volunteers and ensures compliance with organizational policies relevant to volunteers.
  • Working in a complex healthcare environment, Volunteer Coordinators are responsible for supporting large, diverse volunteer portfolios across multiple programs and sites and across a variety of VCH acute, community and/or long-term care settings.
  • Previous experience coordinating a large number of volunteers across multiple programs and sites and in a complex environment is preferred.

Job Summary

Come work as a Coordinator, Volunteer Resources with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) at Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver, BC!


Within the context of a client and family centered care model and in accordance with established vision and values of the organization, this position collaborates with the general public, hospital staff, community groups and others to develop, plan and coordinate volunteer programs and activities.



  • Establishes and maintains working relationships, conducts needs assessments, coordinates and evaluates volunteer programs

  • Recruits and trains volunteers and coordinates their deployment.

  • Acts as a resource for staff who interact with volunteers and ensures compliance with organizational policies relevant to volunteers.
