Job summary

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a Clinical Counsellor Educator at Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver, BC to lead education and training for clinical staff.

You will coordinate student placements, develop and evaluate education programs, and partner with clinicians to implement evidence-based practices while upholding Indigenous Cultural Safety, equity and inclusion commitments.

Qualifications

• Masters in Clinical Counseling or Counselling Psychology with supervised clinical learning rotation.
• Experience creating educational materials and strategies, knowledge translation, and supervising students.
• Eligible for BC Association of Clinical Counsellors and/or Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association registration.

The salary range for this position is CAD $50.19/Hr. - CAD $62.69/Hr.

Job Summary

Come work as a Clinical Counsellor Educator with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) on the Regional Allied Health Education team at Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver, BC.

Within the context of a patient/client and family-centred framework and continuum-based care model and in accordance with established standards of professional practice and the vision, values and policies of the organization, works in a team-based environment and is charged with providing discipline specific education and expertise across the health authority. The Regional Educator provides clinical and educational support to designated staff within Vancouver Coastal Health a majority of the time. Coordinates student placements and supports and mentors clinical preceptors. Plans, implements and evaluates educational and orientation programs, provides training in practice, assisting with the development and roll out of new clinical practices and providing staff and students with information on new or changed therapeutic procedures and practices. Consults, confers and collaborates with other health care providers regarding clinical concerns or requirements to gather information for ongoing improvement of client care. Provides training in Clinical Counselling practices including leading knowledge transfer of best practice evidence, modifying techniques, assisting with the development of new clinical practices and providing staff with information on new or changed therapeutic procedures and practices. Gathers information for ongoing improvement and demonstrates expertise and leadership of clinical counsellor services. Maintains and updates own knowledge of clinical and professional practice, including hands‑on clinical competencies by working directly with patients, clients, residents.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Masters of Clinical Counseling or Counselling Psychology from an accredited academic institution (to include a supervised clinical learning rotation), plus a minimum of four (4) years' recent, related clinical counselling experience, and completion of a professional instructional program for teaching.


• Experience creating educational materials, implementing education strategies, utilizing knowledge translation abilities, and experience supervising students, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.


• Eligible for registration with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors and/or the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.


• Valid BC Driver's License as local area travel within the VCH geographic area may occur, and access to a vehicle may be required.
