Job summary

The Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Program Assistant to join the Adult Day Centre team at the Margaret Fulton Adult Day Care in North Vancouver, BC.

You will perform clerical and reception duties, answer calls, check in clients, confirm appointments, enter data, maintain client charts, and support team planning and quality improvement. Strong communication, typing, and computer skills are essential; a Criminal Records Review may be required.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 with two years' recent related experience or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of general office procedures and data entry.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and speaking.

Responsibilities

  • Perform clerical and reception duties; answer inquiries and direct callers.
  • Greet and check in clients; confirm client appointments.
  • Word process correspondence and transcribe/admin materials.
  • Enter client information into databases and score questionnaires.
  • Maintain client charts; sort and distribute mail.
  • Support team planning and quality improvement activities.

Job description

Come work as a Program Assistant with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) on the Adult Day Centre team at the Margaret Fulton Adult Day Care in North Vancouver, BC.

Within the context of a client and family centered care model and in accordance with established vision and values of the organization, performs a variety of clerical and reception duties. Answers telephone inquiries, takes messages or directs callers to the appropriate person, greets and checks in clients and confirms client appointments. Word processes a variety of material such as correspondence and progress reports utilizing word processing or spreadsheet software, enters client information into database, scores client questionnaires according to established procedures, transcribes administrative and clinical correspondence, and collates statistical information. Maintains client charts as per established procedures, sorts and distributes incoming and outgoing mail, and engages in on-going team planning and quality improvement activities.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health, you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.
