Job summary

Sienna Senior Living is seeking a Part-time Cook for Aspira Wildpine Retirement Living in Ottawa. You will prepare nutritious meals, respecting dietary needs and cultural preferences, to support residents' health and happiness.

This role requires hands-on kitchen experience, food-safety certification, and the ability to work within a team in a caring environment. Candidates should be eligible to work in Canada and be able to pass a background check.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience preparing meals in a fast-paced kitchen according to recipes and guidelines.
• Knowledge of meeting dietary requirements, proper temperatures, and portion control.
• Monitors quality of food supplies and communicates issues with the team.
• In the absence of leadership, supports departmental operations and purchasing.

What you’ll be doing:

As a Cook, you will prepare nutritious, high-quality meals while gaining an understanding of residents’ dietary needs, preferences, and cultural considerations. You will contribute to creating enjoyable dining experiences that support residents’ health and well-being. As an individual and part of a wider team, you will be a strong contributor to the culture of the home, where the focus is always on helping residents live fully, every day.

What makes you a great fit?

• You have hands-on experience preparing meals and snacks in a fast-paced kitchen, following recipes, production sheets, and menu guidelines.
• You understand the importance of meeting prescribed dietary requirements, proper food temperatures, and portion control while maintaining high quality standards.
• Monitoring quality of food supplies received and advises team leader of problems and makes recommendations about corrective action
• In the absence of the team leader, assumes responsibility for departmental operations including menu changes as necessary, requisitions and purchases food and other supplies from authorized suppliers

What you need to know:

• Grade 12 minimum education required
• A valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and/or Smart Serve certificate
• Experience with cooking in institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality
• You must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work/study permit
• You must successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check
• Sienna Senior Living may utilize artificial Intelligence to screen or assess applicants for this position
