Job summary

Aspira Harvest Crossing Retirement Living is seeking a Cook to join our team. This permanent part-time position offers an hourly pay rate of $17.99 and a schedule that includes Fri–Mon with some shifts, at our retirement residence in Ontario.

Responsibilities include setting up equipment, preparing meals per production sheets, assisting with dietary requirements, and maintaining quality of food supplies. Applicants must have Grade 12 and Safe Food Handling/Smart Serve certificates.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 minimum education required.
  • A valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and/or Smart Serve certificate.
  • Experience with cooking in institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence.
  • You must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work permit.
  • You must successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check and/or Criminal Record Check applicable to the appropriate province.

  • Providing for prescribed diets, at appropriate temperatures and in portion controlled quantities.
  • Monitoring quality of food supplies received and advising team leader of problems and corrective actions.
  • In the absence of the team leader, assumes responsibility for departmental operations including changes as necessary, requisitions and purchases food and other supplies from authorized suppliers.
  • Assisting in the orientation and training of new team members.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

As a Cook your typical day will impact in the following ways:
