Job summary

Sienna Senior Living is seeking a Cook for Aspira Royale Place in Kingston, Ontario. You will prepare nutritious meals, tailoring them to residents' dietary needs and cultural preferences, while contributing to a positive dining experience and overall resident well‑being.

Successful candidates will have relevant kitchen experience, compliance with dietary requirements, and the ability to support team operations and menu planning within a collective agreement framework.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience preparing meals in a fast-paced kitchen.
• Ability to meet prescribed dietary requirements and maintain food temperatures.
• Monitor quality of food supplies and suggest corrective actions.
• In absence of team leader, assist with departmental operations and purchases.

As a Cook, you will prepare nutritious, high-quality meals while gaining an understanding of residents’ dietary needs, preferences, and cultural considerations. What makes you a great fit?

• You have hands-on experience preparing meals and snacks in a fast-paced kitchen, following recipes, production sheets, and menu guidelines.
• You understand the importance of meeting prescribed dietary requirements, proper food temperatures, and portion control while maintaining high quality standards.
• Monitoring quality of food supplies received and advises team leader of problems and makes recommendations about corrective action
• In the absence of the team leader, assumes responsibility for departmental operations including menu changes as necessary, requisitions and purchases food and other supplies from authorized suppliers

What you need to know:

• Grade 12 minimum education required
• A valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and/or Smart Serve certificate
• Experience with cooking in institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality
• You must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work/study permit
• You must successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check
• Sienna Senior Living may utilize artificial Intelligence to screen or assess applicants for this position
