Job summary

Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care seeks a cook to prepare, portion and serve meals for residents in accordance with regulations. A Chef Training/ Culinary Management diploma and a current Food Handler Safety Certificate are required, plus a minimum of 3 years in institutional cooking.

Familiarity with Asian cuisine and Chinese language skills are assets. Work involves shift work, including weekends, with emphasis on sanitation, safety and high-quality quantity food production in a

Qualifications: Completion of Chef Training diploma or diploma/certificate/apprenticeship in Culinary Management, Cook, Food and Nutrition or equivalent.

Current Food Handler Safety Certificate.

Minimum 3 years proven institutional cooking experience.

Familiarity with Asian cuisine and use of industrial size wok an asset.

Practical and theoretical knowledge of quantity food production, and knowledge of sanitation and safety standards for food services area.

Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Screen Ability to communicate in English.

Knowledge of Chinese an asset.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions: Considerable standing, walking and lifting throughout the day Shift work, including weekend Exposed to heat, humidity and food waste.
