Job summary

Park Hyatt Toronto is seeking a Pastry Cook to join our culinary team. You will execute pastry orders for events, craft decorations and fillings, and employ traditional techniques while innovating menu items.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Executing pastry orders for catered events and accommodating special requests.
• Creating enticing confectionery decorations and pastry fillings, and staying updated on pastry techniques.
• Applying classic pastry techniques when preparing traditional pastries.
• Adding novel, creative pastry items to the menu.
• Monitoring and maintaining specialized pastry baking equipment and tools.

About the Role – Pastry Cook

Probationary Rate: $23.34

Hourly Rate: $29.17

Some of the responsibilities include

• Executing pastry orders for catered events and accommodating special requests.
• Creating enticing confectionery decorations and delicious pastry fillings, as well as keeping abreast of new pastry baking techniques.
• Applying classic pastry baking techniques when preparing traditional pastries.
• Adding novel, creative, and delicious pastry items to the existing selection.
• Monitoring equipment and ensuring all specialized pastry baking tools are in working order.
• Maintaining the good running order of specialized pastry baking equipment.

Qualifications

• Refined verbal communication skills
• 1 year of previous pastry experience preferred
• Culinary degree or related hotel experience is preferred
• Candidate should be able to perform all basic cooking/baking skills
• A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast paced environment
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Flexible working hours, including weekends and evenings, and holidays
