Job summary

Extendicare Forest Trail in Peterborough is seeking a Part-Time Cook to provide high quality food, nutrition and customer service to residents in a clean and safe environment. You will be part of our culinary team and take responsibility for preparing meals to meet prescribed diets.

The role requires chef training or a Cook certificate, a Food Handler's certificate, and possibly Red Seal; we offer mentorship, career growth, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Chef training or culinary management certificate or diploma meeting OLTCH Act requirements.
• Certificate of qualification as a Cook issued by an authority meeting OLTCH Act requirements.
• Post-secondary diploma/degree in food and nutrition or related program.
• "Red Seal" certification preferred.
• Current Food Handler's Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Reviews regular and therapeutic menus and sets up equipment and supplies for food preparation.
• Prepares food and nourishments in accordance with prescribed diets.
• Maintains all required records and monitors quality and quantity of food.
• Directs Dietary Aides in basic food preparation procedures and serving activities at mealtimes.
• Assumes responsibility for routine departmental operations in the absence of the Dietary Manager.
• Must be able to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Education

This position is for our Extendicare Forest Trail Home, located in Peterborough.

What you’ll be doing
