Job summary

Extendicare Forest Trail in Peterborough, Canada, is seeking a Cook to join our culinary team. You will prepare meals, review menus, and ensure diets are followed while maintaining quality records. You will supervise Dietary Aides and cover routine operations in the Dietary Manager's absence.

The position requires Chef training or a culinary credential, with Red Seal preferred and a valid Food Handler's Certificate. Work days/evenings/weekends/holidays and benefits are included.

Qualifications

• Chef training or culinary management certificate or diploma meeting OLTCH Act requirements.
• Certificate of qualification as a Cook or Red Seal certification preferred.
• Current Food Handler's Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Reviews regular and therapeutic menus and sets up equipment and supplies for food preparation.
• Prepares food and nourishments in accordance with prescribed diets.
• Maintains records and monitors quality and quantity of food.
• Directs Dietary Aides in basic food preparation and serving at mealtimes.
• Assumes responsibility for routine operations in the absence of the Dietary Manager.
• Ability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

What you’ll be doing

• Reviews regular and therapeutic menus and sets up equipment and supplies for food preparation.
• Prepares food and nourishments in accordance with prescribed diets.
• Maintains all required records and monitors quality and quantity of food.
• Directs Dietary Aides in basic food preparation procedures and in serving activities at mealtimes.
• Assumes responsibility for routine departmental operations in the absence of the Dietary Manager.
• Must be able to work days, evenings, weekends, and holiday

What you bring

• Chef training or culinary management certificate or diploma from a program that meets the requirements of the OLTCH Act, or Certificate of qualification as a Cook issued by an authority meeting the requirements of the OLTCH Act, or Post-secondary diploma in food and nutrition management or a post-secondary degree in food and nutrition “Red Seal” certification preferred Current Food Handler`s Certificate
